Farmers markets in Etobicoke.

Looking for the perfect spot to get your hands on some local produce this spring? We’ve rounded up the best farmers markets in Etobicoke to help you plan your shop!

Supermarkets are great for convenience, but you just never know where exactly your food is coming from. When you buy from a farmers’ market on the other hand, you can ask all the questions you want about how your food was grown. Plus you get to support local businesses and soak in the wonderful atmosphere that only a local market has to offer. In this post, we reveal six fantastic farmers markets in Etobicoke that you might want to check out this spring! Let’s jump in!

1. Stonegate Farmers’ Market

When: Every Tuesday from June to October, 4pm – 7pm

Where: Christ Church St. James Anglican Church parking lot, 194 Park Lawn Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Y 3J1

If you want a market with a party atmosphere, this is the place to be. Here you can find local and organic produce, honey, bread, cheese, meats, and lots more! There is also entertainment from local performers as well as special events throughout the year. What’s more, each week local community groups host a BBQ, so you can have a meal here too.

2. Annette Village Farmers’ Market

When: Every Wednesday from May to October, 3pm – 7pm

Where: Runnymede Presbyterian Church parking lot, 680 Annette Street, Toronto, ON M6S 2C8

This market began six years ago on the patio of Crème Fraiche Market Café. It quickly outgrew its location and continues to grow in popularity at its new spot at the church. This is more than just a market and its organizers are committed to forging connections between the people in the community and those who grow and prepare the food for sale. Aside from that, they are passionate about ensuring that food is regional, natural, and ecologically sustainable!

3. Weston Farmers Market

When: Every Saturday from May 12th to October 27th, 2018, 7am – 2pm

Where: The new GO Parking lot, 1865 Weston Rd (south of Lawrence Ave), York, ON M9N 1V9

This popular market has proven to have staying power as it’s now entering its 39th season! Note that it has had to move temporarily while there is construction undergoing on John Street (set to end in 2019). The market offers a full range of local fare, and there are plenty of special events happening throughout the season, including a corn roast and kids’ activities.

4. Market Days at Montgomery’s Inn

When: Every Wednesday, year round, 2pm – 6pm (Indoor during the winter)

Where: Montgomery’s Inn, 4709 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, ON M9A 1A8

Since Montgomery’s Inn was once part of a 400-acre farm, it seems only fitting that they continue to host year-round weekly farmers markets in Etobicoke. Aside from fresh produce and baked goods, you’ll find preserves and prepared foods, all lovingly locally made. You can come and make a day of it by enjoying your purchases on-site – there’s even live music in the picnic area during the outdoor season!

5. Sherway Farmers’ Market

Grapes, apples, and pears.

When: Every Friday from June to October, 8am – 2pm

Where: Church on the Queensway parking lot, 1536 The Queensway, Etobicoke, Ontario, M8Z 1T5

You may be used to seeing this market pop up every Friday in the parking lot of Sherway Gardens Mall but note that it moved last year. It still happens on the same day but the location is the parking lot of the Church on the Queensway. Here you can find a huge selection of Ontario-grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs, as well as meat, eggs, cheese, baked goods, honey, and more.

6. Etobicoke Civic Centre Farmers Market

When: Every Saturday from early June to late October, 2017, 8am – 2pm

Where: Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall, Etobicoke, ON M9C 2Y2

This market is a hidden gem that has plenty to offer in terms of wonderful fresh fruits and vegies. And since it also boasts everything from fresh eggs to local meats, you can easily do most of your weekly shop here. For a day-of snack, you might have to join a line-up to get a taste of the sought-after fresh apple fritters.

Unfortunately, we bid farewell to the Sam Smith Farmers’ Market at the end of last season due to intermittent attendance rates. This just goes to show that organizers and vendors need our support to keep these wonderful markets alive!

Wherever you decide to shop, you’ll be happy knowing you’re getting healthy, nutritious food for you and your family, while supporting local businesses! Have fun shopping at all of the farmers markets in Etobicoke, from your ThompsonSells team!

Hey Wanda , thanks for your input and you’re correct. Perhaps we should have titled this blog post Farmer’s Markets in Etobicoke and nearby neighbourhoods. Were there any other markets in Etobicoke that you would like for us to highlight? I’m happy to add them.

      thanks again
