There are so many fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend. Check out our list of ten fun happenings and get planning for the weekend. There’s sure to be something for everyone! Let’s get started!

1. Food Truck’N Friday

When: Friday, May 5th, 4:30pm – 10pm

Where: Parking lot at Bloor Street West and Resurrection Road, 1 Resurrection Road, Etobicoke, ON M9A 5G1

Get your taste buds ready because Food Truck’N Fridays are back. It’s the perfect excuse to take a night off cooking and mingle with other locals while trying some of Toronto’s finest food truck cuisine. Stuffed chicken wings and sushi burritos are just a couple of things you might find among this stellar lineup of vendors. This bi-weekly event happens rain or shine and even features live music.

2. Parent Expo 2017

When: Saturday, May 6th, 9:30am – 5pm

Where: Etobicoke Olympium, 590 Rathburn Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9C 3T3

While it’s named the ‘Parent Expo’, this event is aimed at anyone involved with kids, be it families, teachers, volunteers, and those in kids-focused industries. This unique event aims to encourage parents to utilize the resources available to them and get involved in their kids’ learning experiences. It also serves as a networking event helping to bring communities closer together!

3. Mandarin MS Walk

When: Sunday, May 7th, 8:30am

Where: St Mark Catholic School, 45 Cloverhill Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Y 1T4

Get your walking shoes on and get on out there for a great cause! This walk will see hundreds of participants enjoy a spring walk with family and friends while fundraising to support those living with multiple sclerosis. It’s a great way to come together as a community and the walk will be followed by a celebratory BBQ as well as entertainment and awards.

4. Junior Scientists Richview Library

Where: Richview Library, 1806 Islington Ave, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3N3

Do you have a budding scientist in the family? Then this drop-in class could be the perfect fit. The Junior Scientists session at Richview Library is open to kids aged six and over and gives them the chance to conduct science experiments and observations in a fun setting.

5. Board Games for Adults at Richview Library

Where: Richview Library, 1806 Islington Ave, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3N3

Who says games are just for children? If you want to indulge your inner kid along with fellow enthusiasts, you can head over to Richview Library on Friday afternoon and get playing. After all, games are great for exercising your mind and keeping that brain healthy! Be prepared to strategize and compete, but most of all have fun! If you have a favorite game, bring it along, although the library has its own supply.

6. Kentucky Derby Day Party at Woodbine Racetrack

Where: Woodbine Racetrack, 555 Rexdale Blvd, Toronto, ON M9W 5L2

Cost: $70

If you’re looking for a fun day out, then it’s time to get all dressed up for a day at the races. The Derby Day Party at Woodbine Racetrack is happening this Saturday and it looks to be an event filled with fun. There’ll be live racing, Kentucky-inspired cuisine, whiskey tasting, a nail bar, live music, and prizes for the best-dressed attendees.

7. Spring Sale at All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church

When: Saturday, May 6th

Where: All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor W, Toronto, ON M8X 1B2

Get ready for a treasure hunt as you visit the 37th annual Spring Sale at All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church. This huge sale offers collectibles, jewelry, clothing, furtinuture, art work, and more. There’ll also be fresh baked goods to enjoy at the sale or to take home. If you’ve got the sale bug, then you’re in luck! Also on Saturday, there’s the Garage Sale at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 286 and the Spring Tea and Craft Fair at Horner Avenue Senior Centre.

8. MAP Family Saturdays at Alderwood Library

When: Saturday, May 6th, 11am – 12pm

Where: Alderwood Library, 2 Orianna Dr, Toronto, ON M8W 4Y1

MAP Family Saturdays is back at Alderwood Library. Staff from Montgomery’s Inn will visit the library to tell families all about life in mid 19th-century Etobicoke. There’ll be storytelling, music, and crafts. It’s open to all ages but requires registration. Also, as part of the same program, Colborne Lodge will be visiting Humber Bay Library on Saturday at the same time.

9. Native Plant Sale at High Park

When: Sunday, May 7th, 11am – 2pm

Where: In front of the High Park Greenhouse, High Park, 1873 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3

With spring planting season here, it’s the perfect time to stock up some beautiful native plants. Head on over to High Park for a wonderful selection to add to your wildflower garden. Choose from tons of varieties, including Black-Eyed Susan, Wild Ginger, and Mountain Mint. Proceeds support the work of the High Park stewards and native plant restoration in the park. If you want to learn more about gardening, you might also be interested in the Urban Gardening Workshop at the Centre for Urban Ecology happening on Saturday.

10. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at Brentwood Library

Where: Brentwood Library, 36 Brentwood Rd N, Etobicoke, ON M8X 2B5

If you’re Star Wars fan, you’ll no doubt want to mark this week with a viewing or two. Why not make it  a family outing and head over to Brentwood Library for a viewing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? This drop-in event is first come, first seated, so it might be worth arriving early. If you miss that, but you’re up for a family movie, you can catch Age of Innocence at Richview United Church on Friday night.
