While many will want to celebrate with family and friends this weekend, it’s also nice to get and about in the community. If you’re looking for something local to get up to, we’ve got you covered. Our list of ten fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend has something for everyone. Let’s go!
1. Thanksgiving Dinner at the Village

Cost: $26.95 – $58.95
If you’d like to take a break from cooking this Thanksgiving, you can take the whole family to Black Creek Pioneer Village for a traditional feast. Aside from delicious food, there’ll be themed tours, wagon rides, and beer sampling.
2. Old Mill Thanksgiving Buffet

Cost: $19.95 – $44.95
Another place to get your fill of Thanksgiving grub this weekend is Old Mill. They’ll be serving up their brunch and dinner buffets on both Sunday and Monday so there’s plenty of opportunity to get family and friends together to share a wonderful meal. Enjoy carved roast turkey, stuffing, and gravy, as well as seafood, prime rib, pasta dishes, salads, and more.
3. Llama Pen Activities at High Park Zoo

Where: High Park Zoo, Deer Pen Rd, Toronto, ON M6R
The llama pen activities at High Park Zoo typically run every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer. But since this weekend is Thanksgiving, they’ll be opening up the pen on Monday too. You can pet and feed the llamas, as well as interact with other animals, including rabbits and chickens.
4. The Flying Adventure Exhibition

This book illustration exhibition is running throughout the month of October at Montgomery’s Inn to mark the South Korean holiday of Chuseok. The Flying Adventure of the Google-Eyed Mole & Mr. Han River Bird is an enchanting children’s book written by South Korean author Jeong Hyunn. The illustrations, by his daughter and son-in-law, will delight both children and adults alike.
5. Moana Family Movie

Where: Brentwood Library, 36 Brentwood Rd N, Etobicoke, ON M8X 2B5
If you don’t have to be in work, this is an awesome way to spend a fall afternoon. Join other families in the neighbourhood for a screening of Disney movie Moana at Brentwood Library this Friday. This exciting tale of a spirited young sailor will be a hit with the whole family.
6. Women’s Soap and Candle Making Workshop

Where: Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, 101 Portland St, Etobicoke, ON M8Y 1B1
The Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment is a wonderful organization having a positive impact on the young women of Etobicoke. This Saturday they’ll be running workshop open to all South Etobicoke women over 18 who are interested in the art of soap and candle making.
7. Map Saturday at Humber Bay Library

Where: Humber Bay Library, 200 Park Lawn Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Y 3J1
MAP Family Saturdays continue this weekend as Montgomery’s Inn pays a visit to Humber Bay Library. Staff from the historic site will be on hand to teach you about its history, lead a 19th century dance, and help you create an old-fashioned toy.
8. Get Active to Prevent Diabetes

When: Friday, October 6th, 10am – 12pm (6 week program)
Where: Albion Library, 1515 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9V 1B2
“An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” as the saying goes. This six-week workshop at Albion Library is aimed at adults who want to get fit and healthy as a way to prevent diabetes. A health nurse will be teaching the health education component and a certified fitness instructor will be leading everyone in some physical activity. Registration is required for the class.
9. Turkey Giveaway

Would you or someone you know love a free turkey for Thanksgiving? The Church of God Sabbath-Keeping will be handing out 50 free turkeys this Saturday to the first arrivals!
10. Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner

More Thanksgiving generosity is happening at Kingsview Village Seventh Day Adventist Church this Sunday with their free community Thanksgiving dinner. RSVP is required for this event.
