It’s a weekend full of wonderful activities as the Etobicoke-Lakeshore Culture Days event is happening at various locations in South Etobicoke. There are so many activities running for all ages that we can’t possibly pack them into this post, but we’ve included some of our top picks! Here are ten fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend!

1. Etobicoke-Lakeshore Kick-Off Party

When: Friday, September 29th, 6pm – 7:30pm

Where: Amos Waites Park, 2441 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 1C5

The Etobicoke-Lakeshore Culture Days Kick-Off Party is a dazzling dancing showcase to get everyone geared up for a weekend of fun. Performers include Canada’s Got Talent finalists Broken Dance who will also be showing you how to recreate some of their moves.

2. Thriller Dance Workshop

When: Saturday, September 30th, 4pm – 7pm

Where: The Assembly Hall, 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

Who wouldn’t want to learn to dance like Michael Jackson in the iconic Thriller video. This workshop, led by City Dance Corps instructors will offer a short hip-hop class before diving into the full Thriller dance routine.

3. Wild in the Park

Where: Colonel Sam Smith Park, 3145 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 1L4

Culture Days aren’t just all about arts and entertainment. Nature is a huge focus of our culture as well. The Friends of Sam Smith Park are adding their own great event to this weekend, called Wild in the Park. The first part of the day will involve family-friendly wildlife activities, including creating a large wall mural and making DIY bird feeders. In the afternoon, wildlife photographer Nancy Barrett will be on hand to offer tips for taking amazing nature images.

4. Animal Mask Workshop

Where: Humber Student Welcome and Resource Centre, 2 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

The great thing about Culture Days is there are so many event for all ages to enjoy. Kids especially will have a fun time designing their own animal masks. They can let their imagination run wild as they use everything from feathers to frills to create their own masterpiece.

5. Yoga in the Park

When: Saturday, September 30th, 11am – 11:45am and 3pm – 3:45pm

Where: The Assembly Hall, 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

While it’s a weekend of fun and excitement, some of you will no doubt want to take things down a notch. Calm your mind and body while enjoying nature as instructor Briar Boake leads you through a 45-minute yoga session. This is open to all ages and levels; just bring your own mat or towel.

6. Pirate for a Day

This event run by Mimico BIA is perfect kids who love to play dress-up. They’ll get to don pirate garb and paint their faces before enjoying an afternoon of adventure and make-believe.

7. Aboriginal Community Celebration and Social

Where: The Assembly Hall,1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

Ever wanted to experience an Aboriginal Pow-Wow? This cultural celebration showcases the spirit of First Nations people with singing, dancing, and drumming. Join in the incredible atmosphere complete with vibrant colors and rhythmic beats.

8. World of Flutes at Albion Library

When: Saturday, September 30th, 2pm – 3pm

Where: Albion Library, 1515 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9V 1B2

Many libraries across Toronto are also participating in the celebrations. Albion library is hosting a World of Flutes program on Saturday, presented by bansuri (bamboo flute) maestro Deepankar Ganguly. He’ll be showing off a selection of world flutes from India, Guatemala, China, and more.

9. Colborne Lodge Harvest Festival

When: Sunday, October 1st, 11am – 5pm

Where: Colborne Lodge, 11 Colborne Lodge Dr, Toronto, ON M6R

Tis the season for pumpkins and warm apple cider and Colborne Lodge has you covered. Their annual harvest festival is on this Sunday where you can enjoy everything fall-related. There’ll be activities including pumpkin carving and apple bobbing, as well lots of delicious treats such as roast potatoes, warm apple cider, and local honey.

10. Passion and Poetry Walking Tour

Where: Benches across from Grenadier Café, 200 Parkside Dr, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3

Another great chance to see the park in all it’s fall glory is through the Sunday walking tours organized by the High Park Nature Centre. This week’s walk will be led by Julia Bennett who will take you on a tour inspired by the theme ‘Passion and Poetry.’
