We’re already more than half-way through summer, but there is still tons of time to venture out and enjoy the beautiful weather and get together with family and friends. In this post, we reveal our top picks for fun things to do in Etobicoke in August. Let’s jump in!
1. JerkFest at Centennial Park

Where: Centennial Park, 256 Centennial Park Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9C 5N3
Another year, another round of delicious jerk from the Centennial Park JerkFest. But this celebration isn’t all about food, and there’s a huge focus on music and dance too. Performers include Fab 5, Fantasia, Melanie Durrant, and lots more. There’ll also be plenty for the kids too, including a visit from the Care Bears and Caillou!
2. Royal Canadian Family Circus at Woodbine Mall

Where: Woodbine Mall, 500 Rexdale Blvd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 6K5
Cost: $25 – $50
Another great Etobicoke tradition is the Royal Canadian Family Circus at Woodbine Mall. The whole family will be amazed by all of the incredible acts, including the Guerro 4 Man High Wire, the Bilea Transformation Act, and the juggling world record holder, Tommy Tequila.
3. Meet Marvel’s Black Panther or the Ninja Turtles

Where: Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall, Etobicoke, ON M9B 3Y8
Have a superhero fan or two to entertain this summer? This one’s for you! As part of the Super Kidz Summer Program, Marvel’s Black Panther will be at Cloverdale Mall on August 9th. Kids can participate in superhero activities, such as face painting, superhero workouts, and crafts, and they’ll receive a cape and a photo with Black Panther. Can’t make this event? Not to worry, the Ninja Turtles will be taking over the mall in a similar event on August 23rd.
4. A Creative Buzz Art Exhibition

Where: Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery, 399 The West Mall, Etobicoke, ON M9C 2Y2
If you love art and want to support local artists, you can head over to the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery. This exhibition features assorted works, all by Ontario artists, including illustrator Anthony Jenkins of The Globe and Mail. It has been running since June and will be wrapping up with a closing reception on August 19th.
5. Street Classic Cruise Nights

Where: Parking lot of Canadian Tire, 1608 The Queensway, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 1V1
Every Saturday night during the summer, the array of classic cars in the Queensway Canadian Tire parking lot is a sight to behold. Whether it’s your first time or you haven’t been in years, it’s definitely worth a visit at least once per summer. Aside from viewing the classic cars, you get to enjoy great atmosphere including live music and food trucks. This volunteer-driven event raises money for Darling House for Kids though weekly 50/50 draws, so you can be happy knowing you’re supporting a great cause.
6. Arts in the Parks: The Echoes Project

When: Thursday, August 9th, 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Amos Waites Park, 2441 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 1C5
This performance is the the culmination of an 8-week project in which Clay and Paper Theatre have facilitated community engagement to form an artistic show. Artists, performers, and community member have come together to chronicle the changes in the community through song, theatre, movement, and more.
7. Emma’s Ball and Supper at the Crown

When: Saturday, August 18th, 2:30pm – 10:30pm
Where: Montgomery’s Inn, 4709 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, ON M9A 1A8
Cost: $50 – $85
This event, run by Danceweavers, in one in a series that aims to recreate scenes from Jane Austen’s novels. Here you can enjoy Emma’s “Ball at the Crown Inn,” including a candlelit supper, a dance workshop, live music, and a tour of the inn by lamplight.
8. LAMP Gigantic Garage Sale

Where: LAMP Community Health Centre, 185 Fifth St, Etobicoke, ON M8V 2Z5
Calling all bargain hunters! LAMP is holding their annual Gigantic Garage Sale this month, and there are sure to be some awesome finds. This isn’t your average garage sale: aside from shopping for treasures, you can take part in mindfulness and relaxation activities. There’ll also be live music, along with origami, henna, and dance demos, and a peaches and cream English tea.
9. Civic Holiday Brunch at Old Mill

Where: Old Mill, 21 Old Mill Road, Toronto, Ontario, M8X 1G5
Cost: $14.95 – $32.95
A long weekend is always a great time to get the family together. But who will do all of the cooking? As usual, Old Mill has you covered and is holding a Civic Holiday Brunch on August 6th. Get the whole crew together to enjoy breakfast items, meats, seafood, salads, desserts, and lots more. The best part? No one has to do the dishes!
10. Invasive Species Removal (aka Weed Whacking)

Where: Meet in front of the Grenadier Restaurant
Okay, so you probably have enough weeds of your own to deal with, but High Park needs your help, and it could be fun too. On two Sundays in August, a group of volunteers will be getting together to help rid certain areas of the park of invasive species. Cover up with pants and long sleeves and head over to whack some garlic mustard, ragweed, hedge parsley, and more.
