If you’re looking for something fun and local to get up to this weekend, we’ve got the perfect list for you. There are plenty of things going on in and around Etobicoke to keep the whole family entertained. Without further ado, let’s run down our list of ten fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend!
1. Free Moksha Yoga in the Park

When: Friday, July 21st, 4pm – 5pm
Where: Humber Bay Shores Park, 15 Marine Parade Dr, Toronto, ON
Yoga can be super relaxing but doing it outdoors is even more so. This free class, hosted by Lolë, will be led by company ambassadors Cathy Braund-Pereira and Gabriela Doiu of Moksha Yoga Etobicoke. Each participant will receive a free goodie bag, and restaurant The Fix & Co. will be onsite with juice samples. Grab your mat and towel and head on down from some yoga fun.
2. Weed Whacking with the High Park Stewards

When: Sunday, July 23rd, 10:30am – 12:30pm
Where: In front of the Grenadier Café, 200 Parkside Dr, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3
Want to help the High Park stewards maintain the natural beauty of the park? You can volunteer to join in their weed whacking session this Sunday. You’ll be removing invasive species, such as garlic mustard, ragweed, and hedge parsley, in order to give the native plants more room to grow. 3. Beginner Belay Lessons at Boulderz Climbing Centre

Where: Boulderz Climbing Centre, 80 The East Mall Suite 9, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 5X1
Cost: $35
Do you love climbing or want to get the kids doing something active? Boulderz has tons of programs for both kids and adults throughout the year, including belay lessons on Saturdays. In these sessions, kids 14 and older can learn how to belay and more. The session cost also includes a two-week memebership and shoe and harness rental.
4. Batik Art at Albion Library

Where: Albion Library, 1515 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9V 1B2
Do you have an artsy teen who might be interested in learning how Batik works? This beautiful printing method uses fabric, wax, and dyes, to create stunning effects. This workshop will have them creating their own designs in no time. Also on at the same time in Albion Library is another teen workshop for DIY crafts where they can create their own masterpiece to take home.
5. Salsa on Sundays at Salsa in the 6ix

If you’re looking for a fun Sunday hobby, salsa dancing might be just the ticket. These sessions run just outside Etobicoke in Port Credit, and offer up an evening of fun for any experience levels. Back by popular demand, this session includes a one-hour lesson for beginners, and a fun evening of socializing, dancing, drinks, and food.
6. Project Love Run Brunch Summer Series

Where: Humber Bay Arch Bridge, Martin Goodman Trail, Toronto, ON
Whether you’re an advanced runner or want to get into it while making new friends, these Project Love Run events are a great outing for women who share a love of fitness. The concept is simple – run to brunch, then enjoy some tasty eats while sharing stories with like-minded women. This run will begin at Humber Bay Arch Bridge with all paces welcome.
7. Pollinator Power: Flowers of Downsview Park

Where: Discovery Centre at Downsview Park, 70 Canuck Ave North York, ON M3K 2C5
If you’re a nature-loving family, then there’s more in store for you this weekend. Just northeast of Etobicoke in Downsview Park, you can embark on a colorful journey of discovery as you explore the flowers, plants, and animals of the park. Park staff will lead this free tour that will see you connecting with nature and learning about color from the perspective of bees and butterflies.
8. Outdoor Swimming Pools and Splash Pads

Now that summer is in full swing, those hot humid days are perfect for taking a dip in one of the city’s many outdoor pools or cooling off at a splash pad. Thankfully, there are plenty to choose from in Etobicoke, most with free entry, so all you need is your bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen. 9. French Conversation Night at Brentwood Library

Want to brush up on your French with fellow learners? This program runs every Friday evening at Brentwood Library, and offers a relaxed atmosphere for you to practice speaking French. Learn from teachers and make new friends as you master the language. This is a drop-in program with no registration required.
10. Friday Afternoon Games at Northern Elms Library

The TD Summer Reading Club is offering programs at all Toronto libraries, all summer long. These workshops encourage kids of all ages to not only read, but also engage in other stimulating activities. This program will have kids getting active with Wii games, playing board games, and doing crafts. Check out the Toronto Public Library website for more programs near you.
