There are so many fantastic businesses in Etobicoke to try. Find out where we’ve been this month!
Each month we rave about one of our stellar local businesses and this month, we visited Cycle Butik in Mimico. With our beautiful waterfront trails in South Etobicoke, cycling has become a popular sport for young families, seniors, and sport-minded locals. Cycle Butik is a favorite local bike shop in Mimico taht has been owned and operated by Thomas for the last nine years.
The Shop
When Thomas first set up the shop, it was actually located around the corner from its existing location. But rapid growth meant that he needed a bigger space after just two years. You can’t miss the current store because of the beautiful mural painted on the front wall.
It’s located in very close proximity to the waterfront trails. You can cycle along the trails from Mimico right to downtown or to the west all the way to Oakville. Many local families love the convenience and friendly service that Thomas offers. Local residents often just stop by to say hello as they cycle past the shop.
The Biking Trend
Commuting to work downtown by bike has become very popular. The city has just added additional bike lanes in Mimico that have improved safety and convenience.
Many local residents recognize that cycling to work is the fastest way to get downtown between May and October. This is one of the reasons why hybrid bikes have become so popular. They are the best selling bike at Cycle Butik.
Buying a Bike
Thomas recommends that all cyclists buy their bike at a local bike shop so that it can be properly fitted to the rider and serviced by a professional. So many cyclists go out and purchase their bike at a large retailer. They run the risk that the bike they purchase is either the wrong size for them or not fitted properly. Riding a poorly fitted bike can lead to back or knee injuries.
Aside from buying a bike at Cycle Butik, you can also get your bike serviced and purchase clothing and accessories.
