If you’re making plans for the weekend and want to know what’s on offer in and around Etobicoke, then we’ve got the perfect list for you. Our top ten fun things to do in Etobcioke this weekend is sure to have something for all the family. Without further ado, let’s jump in!

1. Lakeshore BIA Grilled Cheese Challenge

When: Sunday, June 11th, 11am – 6pm

Where: Islington and Lake Shore Boulevard West, Etobicoke

Last year’s inaugural event was such a huge success that the Grilled Cheese Challenge is back for a second go. This event, run by the Lakeshore Village Business Improvement Area (BIA), sees vendors compete to create the most drool-worthy grilled cheese sandwich possible. Aside from getting a belly full of delicious cheesy goodness, there is tons more to enjoy at this fun-filled family day out. There’ll be a dedicated kid zone, live music, classic cars, and a Great Lakes Beer garden.

2. Free Friday Films at Richview United Church

When: Friday, June 9th, 7pm – 9pm

Where: Richview United Church, 149 Wellesworth Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9C 4R8

If you fancy getting out and enjoying a free movie with other members of the community on Friday, Richview United Church will be hosting the last in its series. They’ll be showing Florence Foster Jenkins, which tells the tale of a New York heiress whose dream it is to become an opera singer, although her singing voice leaves a lot to be desired. The comedy, starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant was nominated for two Oscars and is definitely worth a watch. Head on over with the family and purchase popcorn, candy, and drinks to enjoy with the movie.

3. PA Day Movie at Brentwood Library

When: Friday, June 9th, 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Where: Brentwood Library, 36 Brentwood Rd N, Etobicoke, ON M8X 2B5

There’s another free movie event happening on Friday, this one aimed at all those kids off school on a PA day. Sing, an animated comedy featuring the voices of Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, will be showing at Brentwood Library. The event is open to all ages and no registration is required.

4. PA Day Lego Club at Mimico Centennial Library

When: Friday, June 9th, 2pm – 3pm

Where: Mimico Centennial Library, 47 Station Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8V 2R1

Also on Friday, Mimico Centennial is offering a special PA day Lego club. Lego-lovers can have a blast building away with fellow fans. This is a drop-in event and is open to kids aged 6-12 years old.

5. Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada Annual Rummage Sale

When: Friday, June 9th, 8am – 3pm and Saturday, June 10th, 8am – 1pm

Where: UOC St Demetrius, 3338 Lake Shore Blvd W, Toronto, ON M8W 1M9

Anyone looking for their sale fix this weekend, not to worry, we won’t disappoint you. The Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada is holding their annual rummage sale on Friday and Saturday and you never know what you might find. Go along to browse clothing, jewelry, books, and more, and enjoy free coffee while you’re at it.

6. Franklin Horner Community Centre 30th Anniversary Party

Where: Franklin Horner Community Centre, 432 Horner Ave, Etobicoke, ON M8W 2B2

What better way to celebrate Franklin Horner Community Centre’s 30th anniversary than with a giant party?! This free event is open to everyone and there’ll be plenty to enjoy for adults and kids alike. There’ll be food stations, beer and wine sampling, and live entertainment. For the kids there’ll be an exotic animal zoo, air bounce, Star Wars storm troopers, and lots more!

7. Summer Flower Show at Centennial Park Conservatory

When: Sunday, June 11th, 10am – 5pm

Where: Centennial Park Conservatory, 151 Elmcrest Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9C 3S2

The Centennial Park Conservatory offers a stunning array of native and tropical plants year round, but this weekend is extra-special as it marks the start of the summer show. Running right through until September, this display features many new varieties of annuals, including geraniums, coleus, and cannas.

8. She Matters 4 Canada

When: Saturday, June 10th, 7pm – 9pm

Where: Kingsway Baptist Church, 41 Birchview Blvd, Etobicoke, ON M8X 1H7

She Matters 4 Canada is a Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) campaign highlighting issues faced by Indigenous women in Canada. As part of the campaign, singer/songwriter and Indigenous Leader Cheryl Bear will be embarking on an artist tour in Bolivia, but will be kicking off with several Ontario concerts. Join her and CBM for an evening of songs and stories, inspiring others to advocate for marginalized women around the world.

9. At Home Alone Workshop for Kids

Where: Richview Library, 1806 Islington Ave, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3N3

If your tween needs to stay alone at home on occasion, then this would be a great class for you both to attend. This interactive workshop, open to 10 – 14 year olds and their parents, facilitates the development of a personal safety plan that’s specific to your family. Aside from being a great way to give you all peace of mind, it’s also a fun workshop for families to bond together. Registration is required for this event.

10. Ontario Model Soldier Society On Parade 2017

Where: Humber College Lakeshore Campus, 2 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

Cost: $5

The Ontario Model Soldier Society is Canada’s oldest and largest organization of model soldier enthusiasts. If this is something you or a family member are into, this is not to be missed! There’ll be displays, demonstrations, and free model soldiers for kids. Note the location has moved from Fort York to the Humber Valley Lakeshore Campus.
