Who lives in your future condo building? Owners or Renters?

Before you fall in love with a condo, it’s wise to understand who lives in the building. These are your future neighbours. Are most of the units occupied by owners or are they owned by investors who have rented out their units?

There several reasons why you might care about the mix of renters versus owners

  1. Buildings with low % of renters have fewer residents moving in and out each month, which means less disruption for the residents
  2. Less wear and tear on the elevators and common areas with fewer residents moving in and out each month.
  3. Many renters are only there for one year so if you live next door to a renter, you may be getting a new neighbour each year.
