If you want to celebrate Victoria Day without having to travel too far, we’ve got you’ve covered. There are plenty of fun things to do in Etobicoke this long weekend, and our top ten list will have something for everyone. Let’s get started!
1. Victoria Day Tea and Tour at Montgomery’s Inn

Celebrate Victoria Day in style with tea fit for a queen! Entry to this event, run by Toronto’s Historic Sites, also includes admission to the museum. Come and enjoy afternoon tea and a guided tour for just seven bucks.
2. Street Classics Cruise Nights

Cruise Nights are finally back! This event runs weekly throughout the summer and is a wonderful opportunity to check out some beautiful classic cars of all shapes and sizes. The atmosphere on cruise nights makes for an awesome Saturday evening for all the family. There’s food, music, and of course lots of incredible cars!
3. Pirates and Princesses at Black Creek Pioneer Village

Cost: $11 – $15
If you’re looking for a fun day out for the kids this long weekend, Black Creek Pioneer Village could be just the ticket. Dress them up with eye patches and tiaras and head on over for some serious fun. There’ll be interactive characters, a pirate school, treasure hunts, and lots more!
4. True North Music Festival

If you or someone in the family is into dance music, then the True North Music Festival is for you! This huge event will have two stages and feature over a dozen international acts, as well as many Canadian artists. Enjoy everything from house to trance with performances by Dash Berlin, Datsik, and Firebeatz.
5. Spring Rummage Sale at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Hall

Where: Nativity of Our Lord Parish Hall, 480 Rathburn Rd, Toronto, ON M9C 3S8
If you need your rummage sale fix for this weekend you can head on over to Nativity of Our Lord Parish Hall to hunt for some treasures. Members of the parish will be cleaning out their attics and basements so you never know what you might find! There’ll also be a bake sale so get ready for some tasty treats. If you’ve got items to donate to the sale, you can drop them off on Friday between 9:30am and 8pm.
6. Coding for Kids at Long Branch Library

Calling all wannabe kid coders! This free workshop will be teaching young computer nuts how to use Scratch, a free programming language used to make games, movies, and animations. Kids will learn the basics as well as how to make their own game!
7. XBOX Gaming Club at Brentwood Library

If your kid is more a gamer, then this is the event for them. It’s open to 7 – 12 year olds and offers an after-school session of gaming fun. They’ll be playing XBOX KINECT so using their bodies to control the game; no controllers required! They can take along their friends and test their skills against other young gamers.
8. Authentically Connecting and Networking Over Coffee

Healthy Happy Women is a wonderful group inspiring women to live healthier, happier lives. They meet regularly at various locations to form authentic connections and brainstorm, uplift, and motivate. It’s a free informal event and a great way to meet like-minded women.
9. Lots to Do at High Park

If you’re looking to spend some time outdoors this weekend, High Park has tons going on for all the family to enjoy. On Saturday there’s the opportunity to see the ground nesting bees at 10:30am (conditions permitting) as well as a Wild Wetlands Family Walk at 1:30pm. Then on Sunday, if you’re a super early riser, you can head over to the Pre-Dawn Chorus Bird Listen at 5:30am. If that’s too early for you, there’s also the Ecology of Grenadier Pond Walk at 10:30am.
10. Red Cross Babysitting Course for Teens

Cost: $60
If your teen has a younger sibling or wants to start babysitting for a neighbour, this is a fantastic course for them to attend. This daylong session will offer valuable babysitting skills as well as earn them a Red Cross certification. They’ll learn about everything from diapering to first aid and creating a safe environment.
